Meizu M5 Review – Standing in the Middle ground

As we have recently covered Meizu smartphones arrival in Pakistan. It’s time to share review one of their relatively stronger model Meizu M5.
Build & Design
Covered with Polycarbonate body at the back, the plastic shell is very robust but can become slippery if not handled well. Besides the 13MP camera and dual LED Flash are on the back and are fully leveled with M5’s shell. On the front side, the entire front area is black top to bottom irrespective of the color variant.
Display
M5 screen size is reasonably big at 5.2 inches other brands are still offering 5-inch models at similar price point. The screen offers nothing extraordinary however when we use it outdoor in sunlight it was still bright enough to operate smoothly which is pretty nice to have in a budget smartphone. As for the resolution, Meizu M5 2.5D curved glass finish with 720 x 1,280-pixel resolution further makes the screen more sharp and good to look at.
Processor & Storage
M5 boast MediaTek MT6750 chipset with Octa Core 1.5 GHz Cortex A53 processor embedded with Mali T860 graphics alongside 2GB RAM.
Considering it’s a budget smartphone we can’t expect the processor specification to be much more than that, however with our experience with the M5 the app loading and application switching was laborious sometimes.
Camera
The camera specs of M5 are pretty regular with 13MP rear camera supported by the f2.2 aperture is good for daylight but struggles in night photography. Although the HDR mode is available which greatly enhances image quality. For selfies, there is a 5MP camera available which does a reasonable job however with the absence of the front facing flash the night time selfies are hard to take.
Battery
M5 battery is of reasonable size at 3070mAh. Keeping in mind that processor in M5 is low power, the battery consumption does fine to keep you good for all day long usage. It’s pertinent to note that there are now a couple of good budget smartphone available in Pakistan which offers around 4,000mAh battery from brands like Infinix, Xioami, Lenovo, and Qmobile. It will be up to the customers to prefer a more rounded phone like M5 or go for a more battery heavy alternatives.
