Pakistan Mobile Phone Import June – Volume and Value up by 48.4% and 11% respectively
As we covered monthly round up of Mobile phone import for the month of May, here we are at it again with the latest mobile phone import data for the month of June. The mobile phone market has seen dwindling fortunes right from the start of the year especially after imposition of 100% LC margin regulation and the increase of import tax on feature phones. The steps taken by Government to control the import of mobile phones have proved counterproductive thus far have led to increased usage of unofficial channels. But behold the surprise June saw a steep growth especially in volume which grew at 48.4% month-on-month in June.
Mobile Phone Import in June:
During the month of June, total 2.6 million mobile phones were imported in Pakistan compared to 1.7 million units during May, the value of the import stood at USD 69.0 million. If we compare this with the mobile phone import of May, the value grew by 11% and the volume grew by 48.4%. The sudden surge of import volume is largely due to QMobile which saw almost 70% growth in import volume from the month of May.
Mobile Phone Import in Q2, 2017:
Import during Q2 saw similar figures, import in both volume and value saw a very marginal decline by -3% and -6% respectively. Below is a snapshot of mobile phone import on a table format for a more holistic insight on import trends.
