Women’s Day – Women’s Way

Our pick of a few remarkable women in Pakistan who set a benchmark in women’s capabilities.
Women’s day is a day to celebrate the occasion given to the gender’s equality and strength put in by women towards every sector of life and work, including business and technology.
The fact remains that ‘every day is a women’s day’ anyhow, as the woman is the driving force for every man who succeeds as the saying goes ‘behind every successful man is a woman’ today women are not ‘behind’, they are in the forefront as well.
Especially in Pakistan where many startups and press figures comprise women leaders and decision makers. Celebrations ranging from events, fairs, exhibitions, etc. are due and the day will be celebrated with full verve, world over.
There was a time when we could say that certain sectors of business are suitable for women but that phenomenon has changed. Even in ‘Aramco’ world’s leading oil company women play a pivotal role in the most demanding and highly technological fields along with Human Resources – chairing meetings on an everyday basis.
In Pakistan and all its major cities, there will be many exhibitions, seminars, and events regarding the women and their leading and working capabilities.
To pay our tribute to the gender ‘that from the cradle to the grave’ is besides ‘us men’ we have rounded up a few ladies and their profiles who have made an extraordinary difference in various fields of corporate, press, advertising, television and entrepreneurship.
Following are a few women who are an example in the modern development and are ideals of every youth today:
Sultana Siddiqui
A name synonymous with success and women development, Sultana Siddiqui, started out as a producer working for PTV to take over the world of entertainment today. Her voyage from a studio situated at Bath Island in a bungalow to creating, developing and sustaining HUM TV (Eye Television Network) makes her one of the most remarkable women ever to surface in Pakistan, in the field of Television production, entertainment, related endeavors and audience targeted productions.
From HUM TV to creating many other ventures especially supporting women in their relevant fields of work, Siqqiqui journeyed towards the HUM phenomenon – that today is even envied by Indian Television entertainment- she gave her very best to every venture beating every competitor who tried to wedge in the field of pure drama production and entertainment.
Sultana Siddiqui upped her adrenaline every time and faced competition as it came her way. Even today, the woman leading HUM TV and its many ventures, you will still find her engrossed in scripts and editing of serials, etc. herself in the editing booths of the Channel.
Seema Taher
Again, needing no introduction, Seema Taher, of TVOne and NewsOne fame started out as a ‘creative’ in an advertising agency years ago. Today, she heads the most highly rated NewsOne – with one of the boldest stances in news reporting in the country. NewsOne is just one venture of Airwaves Media. TVOne is the entertainment channel which again gets unmeasurable input from Seema.
Seema Taher, introduced the strategic insight based advertising techniques way back in the days when Ogilvy & Mather were implementing them in a modernized and revolutionary way.
A master at almost all that she ventures for and a believer in ‘on-hands’ work, Seema, untiringly introduced many newer and dynamically-futuristic concepts in Pakistan’s advertising and ‘Media Buying’ fields. She has so much to her portfolio that one introduction can never do justice to what her capabilities are in many fields. A thorough professional Seema, regularly partakes in every aspect of their ever-expanding group.

Seema Jaffer
Seema Jaffer is a woman who needs no introduction in the field of advertising, like – Seema Taher who is a remarkable phenomenon as mentioned above. Both, luckily, are named Seema.
Seema Jaffer of Bond advertising carried on with her father’s legacy in advertising, taking the company to new heights and yet further in a very competitive market of Pakistan’s advertising field.
Seema Jaffer created a new more dynamic Bond advertising after her father’s demise and took the company on a highway, dabbling in all possible variations of ‘the ad-world’ and television along with documentary productions. She is one of the few who relentlessly pursued her passion and goals and is a figure in the world of advertising and marketing strategies today.
Although, the list of women entrepreneurs and CEO’s both from a generation before and the present one is never-ending we brought you a few blending the two elements and generations. Success is neither gender-related nor generation bound. It is a state of mind. This state of mind is now taking our country’s women to new heights making them the popular world over.
